      Mandatory for Volunteering with BASE Camp children and families.

      No RSVP or confirmation required ... but it's nice if you email us to let us know you are coming!

      it will be copied and kept on file at the BASE camp office

      You will be given a review of BASE Camp Children's Cancer Foundations' History and Volunteer Needs and opportunities!

      We are in a Small office building with other tennants.

      The building is an off-white 2-story building between MIDAS MUFFLER and FLORIDA Imaging ( a YELLOW painted building)
      on the NORTH EAST corner of 17-92 and Morse --- between Fairbanks and Lee road

      you have to PARK behind the building .... you enter our parking lot between FL Imaging and Priceless Cleaners from 17-92

      to get to suite 120
      Walk through the archway, past the stairs on your right, our office is off the open courtyard
      If you are looking at the ELEVATOR ... 120 is the door on your right

      3. Volunteers Needed in Many Areas
      a. Patient Aid Coordinator
      • Send Birthday Cards to patients, siblings, parents
      • Phone each month to check on their needs and to let them know what BC is doing
      b. BASE Camp office - Monday thru Friday 8am - 6pm; 4-8 hour shifts
      • Office Administration: Answer Phone, Data Entry
      • Org Program Supplies & In-Kind Donations
      • Donor Relations, Communications
      • Finance – Bookkeeping
      c. Florida or Arnold Palmer Children's Hospitals; 4 hour shifts; 18 and older
      • Monday LUNCH 11am-2pm – APH - Cindy@basecamp.org
      • Tuesday LUNCH 11am -2pm – FL - Cindy@basecamp.org
      • Wednesday Parent Support Group 5pm-9pm – FL 1st, APH 2nd & *3rd
      • Thursday – Picnic In the Playroom 5pm - 8pm FL Cindy@basecamp.org
      • Friday Dinner & A Movie 4pm - 8pm APH Terri@basecamp.org

      • Chaperon Rules
      • GENERALLY 3rd weekend of each month Noon Saturday to Noon Sunday
      at local hotels; "camp out in the ballroom"

      Once a month we deliver a weeks worth of groceries to the neediest families
      f. Milestone parties
      Weekly celebration of milestone, patient birthday, ends of chemo, etc.

      • Miles for Smiles; participants get sponsors for their miles
      • Membership Drive; $95, $250, $500
      • School, Church, Small Business Liaison; Hat & Pajama Days, Dress Down,
      • Event Coordinator; 3rd Party events; car wash, road block, etc.
      • Speakers Bureau; show video and speak on behalf of BASE Camp
      4. Volunteer Individual Commitment - Minimum of 3 months of service
      2-4 hours per week, 8 hours per month, 24 hours/outing - one weekend each month
      5. Rules & Dress Code
      No Alcohol, Smoking, Cursing, Sexual misconduct allowed
      • Dress for the occasion, most often we are casual
      o Hospitals have their own dress code you must follow; NO OPEN TOED SHOES
      • At BASE Camp events; DRESS for your task; shorts, swim suit, etc.
      • Fundraising Events: BASE Camp Shirt, Clean long shorts, skirt, slacks
      6. Background Check
      • Volunteer Application, Drivers License (Date of Birth)
      • Social security number

      $20- 5k = 3.1 miles
      $30- 10k = 6.2 miles

      Walk or run around Beautiful Lake Baldwin, or sleep in as a "Phantom Participant"
      and still help raise funds for BASE Camp's year-round programs for children and families facing the challenge of living with cancer.
